Intuitive. Grounded. Curious.

Marina Garcia, Hypnotherapist

Hi, I’m Berkeley based hypnotherapist, Marina Garcia. I help clients learn how to change habitual patterns by using their minds to rewire their brains. Integrative Hypnotherapy provides clients with the necessary tools for lasting change. I love working with curious minds, those playful at heart, creatives, athletes, high performers and driven individuals who enjoy exploring themselves and their potential. My favorite clients come in with a strong willingness to collaborate, a clear vision of their end goal and a deep commitment to creating change in their life.

I was frequently sick as a youth, often let down by conventional medicine. This lens sent me on an early search for tools of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual empowerment. In my early 30s, I was struggling with what felt like an unbreakable habit when I was lucky enough to meet a hypnotherapist at a local group meditation. This habit had served to numb my “big feelings” and quiet my anxieties, which ultimately hurt my ability to deeply connect with myself and others, while also preventing me from feeling the highs and lows of life. With the help of hypnotherapy, I broke the habit and got my spark back. My overall performance in all areas of life improved, as I was no longer strongly driven by fear and anxiety. Hypnosis helped my creativity soar, along with my self-worth, self-confidence and intuition. I learned tools for getting unstuck, releasing old blocks, managing anxiety and navigating big feelings. The power of this work emphatically changed my life and left me wanting to dedicate my life to sharing the power of hypnosis with others.

I live with my partner and our two cats here in the bay. When I’m not supporting clients or geeking out on all things related to hypnosis, consciousness, mindfulness and the brain, I’m creating art, reading a book and moving my body. I love creating in the form of collage, paintings, linocuts, drawings, mosaics and hats. I love reading about spirituality, holistic health and ancient wisdom. I love yoga, chi gong, swimming, long walks and weight lifting. I probably think about my energy body as much as I think about my physical body. Staying aware of my energy, body and mind is very important to my groundedness.

“Hypnosis is a way of accessing the REM state, the state of consciousness in which dreaming occurs. When the ramifications of this are understood, many of the mysteries and controversies surrounding hypnosis are resolved. In dreaming we have an example of the trance state par excellence. It is the deepest trance state we know.”
