“Allow yourself to see what you don’t allow yourself to see.”
— Milton H. Erickson, M.D.

What is hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness, allowing individuals to explore and address subconscious thoughts and behaviors.

Where do appointments take place?

Appointments take place either at my office in downtown Berkeley or online using zoom. I am in California in the Pacific Time Zone. I’m happy to work with clients in different time zones.

How long is each session?

The first session is about 90-120 mintues. Each regular session is about 60-90 minutes.

How much does a session cost?

The first session is $200. Each regular session is $160. I also offer packages.

How many sessions will I need?

It really depends on the client and the issue. For some clients, the work can be rapid, like with phobias. For others, the work can be more progressive, like with weight loss. I ask that the second session take place one week after the first session so that we can troubleshoot. We’ll discuss what is best for you and your goals.

Do you take insurance?

No, I do not currently take insurance.

Forms of payment?

For in person clients, I prefer cash, but also accept Venmo, Paypal or check. For online clients, Venmo, Paypal or check is fine. Payment must be received before the start of the session.

Will you make me cluck like a chicken?

No, I will not. This work is about helping you. It is not about entertainment.

What is my job as a client?

Your job is to listen and engage to the best of your ability. This is a collaborative process, so your engagement and focus is key.

What can I expect from a session as a newcomer to hypnotherapy?

Each session will look different to you. I’ll be showing you how to change your habituated unconscious patterns by using your mind to rewire your brain. Sometimes I’ll do a lot of the talking, sometimes you’ll do a lot of the talking. If you’ve ever done guided meditation, you’ll see similarities sometimes. Overall, expect to be an active part of the process, from start to finish. Come in curious and ready to focus.

I can’t see anything when I close my eyes. Will it still work?

About 20% of the population does not experience visuals. That’s fine. You have more senses. Imagine the taste of a lemon. Imagine the smell of coffee. Imagine holding an ice cube. Feel the love for your beloved. See, we’ve got other senses to work with.
